I'm looking at a '73 that has a 2.0 from a 1975 914. Also, the previous owner had the FI replaced with dual carburetors. From what I've read, this is debatable on whether it was an improvement. But since it was done, are their questions I should ask the present owner about the swap? Other than "how well does it run?"?

Well, if it were me, for my own info:
1) What kind and model carbs are they? (parts) 2) Did he install a cam at the same time? If so, what is it? 3) Make and model dizzy? (this can be determined by looking, but maybe he knows) |

Well, if it were me, for my own info: 1) What kind and model carbs are they? (parts) weber 40 ida prefered 2) Did he install a cam at the same time? If so, what is it? carbs are only advantagious if a carb specific cam like a Webcam is used 3) Make and model dizzy? (this can be determined by looking, but maybe he knows) not as critical, but some brands, like Mallory, are better than stock or the typical Bosch 009 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) |
