As I am customizing my project car I am going to put better seats in it. I have seen S2000 seats in a teener and they looked good but the owner said it was a tight fit. I see all types of aftermarket seats on ebay in the $300-$500 range after shipping but will they sit too high?
914 seats are very low to the floor and being 5'11" I don't want to look at the windshield frame when I drive. Who else has put something else in a 914 and how do they work? |

I found a pair of Recaros out of an early 80's BMW 320iS, cut off the seat belt holders (made seat too wide), and drilled them for standard 914 rails.
Downside: They're a bit wide but I can still use the hand brake (tight), heavy (~50lbs), and are slightly higher than stock (~1"). Upside: Side bolsters are high, they have adjustable thigh supports and headrests, and tip forward to access behind the seat. I'm using five point harnesses but stock 3-points could be used. Also, I removed the backpad to fit the harness attachments but it will fit unless you have long legs and need/like the seat all the way back. Extremely comfortable, strong seat that can be found for under $400/pr. Just another option. -Mike |
