The recent threads re the damage too/and replacemnet of got me to thinking..
Once I first started climbing around in the eng. bay assessing the extent of work I might have to do, I happened to smack the then unloaded susp. ear and lo-& behold a steam of RUST emitted from the "drain" hole at the bottom of the ear. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) I inspected the outside further with pick in hand and all seemed strong (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) So I came up with this method of at least keeping at bay any interior rust that may be working to destroy the ear. I took a coat hanger cut a straight 6-7" section. With a hammer flatted one end and inserted the other in a hand drill. Fed the wire up the drain hole and let her rip! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ar15.gif) Youd be supprised how much crap came out that little hole. I kept this up until material stopped falling. I chked outer strength again after then I took a can of spray anti-rust with a straw attachment (?) fed it up there and blasted the crap out of it. Every now and again I chk both and perform this same procedure. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif) So far solid (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) |
