I am about to put the engine together and after staring at the assembly for a while, it looks like more slots or holes in the windage tray would be a good idea to insure that the pump doesn't suck air.

Who has modified their trays for racing and what did you do?
Or would leaving out some of the gasket around the perimeter accomplish the same?
