While installing some new hella 500's on rennenmetal brackets, (http://www.rennenmetal.com/proddetail.asp?prod=1610) I pulled the fuse box loose to use a switched power supply for the new switch and what did I find..... a remote four prong relay wired to the relay plug in for the fog lights.

Why would someone place a remote relay in lieu of a standard round? (I assume cost and availability...) The fog lights are pilots, but I don't see why that would make a difference to the relay. (round relays were harder to find at one time, but are now available for about $27 each at pelican parts.)

Before I pop in one of my round relays from my 'stash, does anyone see anything that I'm missing as to why a different relay was used? (Electrical is not one my strong points.)

thanks!

(yes, the yellow is 43 years of dust.)
