When I first bought my 914 it had tall bug tires.165/75 or something. Tossed 'em.
Put on Yokohama YK420 195/50's and really enjoyed the upgrade. I drove around on those for a few months and then I found this place. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) Someone said "autocross" and I was listening. I ran on the YK's for a few events and realized that they were limiting me terribly. I next went to the Falken Azenis 205/50's. Wow, what an improvement. I used these tires for the street and the rest of the events except the last two. These tires were great for me to learn how to better drive my car. I felt like I had found the limit, so I bought a set of Yokohama A032r 205/50 race tires. This is getting good. They stick like glue and hardly make a sound. I ran them at the last GGR event at Candlestick and the fun eevnt at Sears Point. My confidence level is now at the all time high...So I thought. I picked up a set of Hoosier 205/50 track tires. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drooley.gif) I've only run 'em for 30 minutes, but, let me tell you buddies, they are AMAZING. You have no idea how ready I am to hit the first a/x of the season. Here's the conclusion: I put the YK's back on today as street tires and drove on them for the first time in 6 months. I kid you not, It felt like I was riding a horse on ice skates. Those tires are NOT race tires. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool_shades.gif) What a journey it has been. KT |
