I need some transmission advice for my 74 2.0. When cold the car shifts nicely, i.e. goes into gear just fine. As it heats up it starts to grind going into first at a stop and I notice it's a little tougher to get into other gears. With a little pressure it always goes.
I thought it was syncros in 1st and 2nd because if I double clutch while moving it goes in nicely. But then I discovered it goes in nicely without the dbl just by moving forward. If this was a more modern car I'd suspect clutch slave or master cylinder, at least that's what it feels like - like the when hot the clutch isn't fully disengaging. I've adjusted the cable because when I got the car it had almost no free play (so I added some). Thoughts? |
