Beginner's dumb question #56: The Porsche factory manual says to "Glue plate spring with specified grease to joint, with hollow end facing the joint. If the cap has been removed from the joint, seal again with compound Curil K"

2 questions:

Is there an equivalent to Curil K available at any auto parts store?

Where does the "glue" go on the plate spring/spring retainer to joint go? I bought new CV boots with cap already attached, so I assume sealant goes around joint itself before slipping it into the boot/cap, wiping off the excess?

Thanks,
