I'm painting the floor pans this week. PO seems to have put some type of sound deadening stuff like tar or is that from the factory? i don't think i've got that on my 71.

So, since i'm POR-15'n the floor pan do i need to remove that first? or can i simply clean up the loose bits and go right over it? i'm planning on doing the underside of the floor pans too.

Also, what could i use to help deaden the sound after i paint it?
