While investigating my oil leaks, decided to follow advice on 914World to feel how much pressure comes out of the dipstick tube.
It was blowing more than I expected. I don't know how to quantify what I felt, so tried to illustrate that it's enough of a pulse to make the paper towel flutter, but I don't really feel it when I completely cover the opening. Note that there is a crankcase breather installed on this carbed engine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCSJjvgFXDM Should I hook up a pressure gauge? I don't know if the needle would hold still since the air pulses. For reference, I tried the same thing on my Miata and didn't feel any air from the dipstick tube. |
