The car has had a minor leak for quite a while, it was small so I didn't do anything with it.
Last fall, new leaks started and turned into quite a mess. Leaks in the cylinder bases, front main and maybe the oil pump. And, of course, leaky pushrod tubes and maybe the oil cooler seals. So the engine out and cleaned up and ready to be resealed. I decided that this would be a good time to change the rings. They're cheap and accessible at this point. Here's the question. There are two small rings in the channel with the oil scraper ring, one above and one below. Is it easier to a thing ring first, followed by the scraper and then the other thin ring? Or the scraper ring and then the two thin rings? Is it necessary to change the thin rings at all? Thanks, |
