1971 1.7L 914 For Sale ("Bob")
50,490 miles $39,000 Asking Exceptional condition time capsule and concours level early 914 looking for its next caretaker and P-car collector / enthusiast. Car has won an AACA National First Prize and is featured in Brett Johnson’s and George Hussey’s latest edition of their 914 – A Restorer’s Guide To Authenticity book. After inspecting the car Brett declared it to be “the holy grail of painted bumper cars”. We purchased the car 20 years ago from its original owner and late Chicago PCA member Bob Casey who was both a condition & authenticity fanatic - with a promise to maintain the car as he did. Car is nearly all ‘as made’ with its original fuel injection, etc. and only a few exceptions for occasional event use. It still has its original rubber bumper pads, door & lid seals, and the pics will attest to its overall amazing condition, including the original battery tray & area. When was the last time you saw the black molded plastic battery cover with original sticker? The car received a partial respray in its original Bahia Red in 1980 after a tree limb grazed the driver’s side sail panel, and the rocker panels also got a respray prior to the AACA competition. The removed & replaced aluminum sail trim piece, as well as its original driver’s side mirror, muffler in great condition, “steelie” wheel set with period Pirellis, and later style Pedrini wheel set are included with this sale, along with other spares, additional goodies and full documentation since new. Has a few small needs to attend to: timed out date code tires, just discovered sticking (broken gear?) odo, and parking brake indicator light. In preparation for this sale, the original front & rear brake hoses and rear calipers were just replaced in a complete brake refresh (PMB rebuilt units fitted; original calipers saved). Other typical maintenance items were also done. Additional photos are available upon request (and many thru the 914 Authenticity book website). Attached thumbnail(s) |
