Is there a procedure for installing the transaxle and shifter assembly that makes sure everything is aligned correctly? To put it another way, if the shifter knob is pointed to 1st how do you insure the transmission is also in 1st?
I skimmed through the factory manuals, but am not seeing any guidance. Maybe this is a dumb question. I envision trying to put the car into reverse, but only being able to select 2nd because something is misaligned. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) This is a 914-6 with stock tail shift transmission. The transaxle was professionally refurbished. We have new clutch & flywheel, fresh bushings throughout. The engine and transaxle were missing when I got the car, so I have no before state or experience disassembling this to rely on. Thank you. |
