My ongoing restification project has finally showed some signs of progress. Today, after nearly a year in the making, I drove Babydoll for the first time in ages! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/boldblue.gif) The car originally came in for a clutch job... while the engine was out (famous last words!) I replaced the 30 year old plastic fuel lines, as well as every piece of rubber line between the fuel tank and the engine. Cranky old fuel injection valves notwithstanding, the engine roared to life a few weeks ago. Since that time, I've been troubleshooting the clutch cable, exhaust, and even the oil temperature gauge (well, that one's not quite fixed yet). I drove the car on a series of country roads, including hills; a bit of in-town driving; and even a sprint on the interstate. The pictures show Babydoll in the parking lot of Greencastle Coffee Roasters (the best smelling place on earth!), in the parking area at High Rock (no hang gliders were flying today), and near an old stone bridge about a mile from my house.

The engine felt like it was bucking at part-throttle... I unplugged the throttle switch and the bucking went away (and the idle went to crap). I guess this means that she's due for a throttle switch. Oh well... the 2.0 is running strong, the transmission shifts fine, and the brakes feel OK. (The pedal is a bit soft so I may want to re-bleed the brakes.) I almost forgot what driving a teener was like. It felt good.

Now its time to celebrate. It's 5 o'clock somewhere! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/beer3.gif)
