Hey there 914 folks...a friend of mine and fellow P-car enthusiast with a 914 suggested I post this here. So I coming out of lurking mode. Here goes...
I've been working on cleaning up my '71 911 chassis - cutting out some rust and welding in new metal - in preparation for installing the 3.2 and 915 from my Carrera doner car. Anyways, now I'm trying to decide what to do with the '71 2.2 engine and 911 (901) trans. Unfortunatly I don't have much history of the drivetrain. The previous owner wrote me a letter saying the engine had been rebuilt in the past 10 years and is using high lift cams - about 5-10k miles since rebuiild. I think the engine was built by Mr. Bensely and/or G+W Sales in Waynesboro VA. The trans shifts well and the clutch was replaced when the engine was rebuilt. I'm wondering what kind of value there is to this engine and trans. I'm thinking I'd like to try and sell as a complete unit - perhaps for a 914-6 conversion? Thanks for the help. I've seen a lot of nice cars on this board! -Scott ![]() ![]() |
