Will you deliver it to the Potomac River about 5 miles upstream of the American Legion Bridge? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

quoted from wiki:
<The energy required to generate the oxyhydrogen always exceeds the energy released by combusting it; see Electrolysis of water:Efficiency.>

and on the subject of acetone...
I worked at the test fuel lab for Chevron in Richmond, CA. as a test fuel additive rater. Of course I played around with my own cocktails for the fuel tank.
Acteone, as stated, reduces surface tension making for a more gaseous/vaporized charge. The problem is that when a fuel charge is more vaporized and less atomized the charge is more explosive and less "a controlled burn". A higher octane is a longer controlled burn. Lower octane is a quicker burn. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chair.gif)
Most things that seems too good to be true... usually are.

Now if you add a high end solvent that prolongs the burning of the fuel, such as Tolulene or Zylene, you will realize an instant boost in octane rating. But that only works on a curve being the more you add, the less it increases octane. Also tough on rubber parts. But worth it IMHO for weekend racing. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif)

HHO is the way to go. My next door neighbor installed one on his Saturn sl2. Hes seeing about 20% increase on mileage so far.
Im about to make my own and install it on my gas hog Durango.

quoted from wiki:

<As a fuel supplement

Oxyhydrogen improves emissions and economy of internal combustion engines when combined with air/fuel ratio and timing modification; these effects will be achieved given a performance tradeoff. The Hydrogen content of Oxyhydrogen will effect the burn rate of fuels and lean combustion capabilities of internal combustion engines.>

all they're saying is mods have to be made. what they're not saying is that you've got to richen the A/F ratio and back off the timing..... cleaner running, yes. But at what price????

and taken from one of the technical reference foot notes from that particular wiki article which I have now read....

<In all cases considered, a considerable loss in maximum power capacity of the engine occurs as a result of the use of gaseous fuels and by operating under lean conditions. Effective utilization of onboard hydrogen generation calls for lightweight high displacement engines to overcome this disadvantage.>

All this talk of secret fuel additives reminds me of a drug that doesn't need FDA approval, and has been proven to cure almost any disease in up to 20% of the patients that take it.

I believe that everyone should have a supply of this drug in their cabinet, as test after test shows incredible healing results.

The drug is called "Placebo", and is available upon request to your local pharmacy.

Really, it works!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

When I was in college (yes, many years ago) I took a class in Internal Combustion Engine Design. We spent a bunch of time studying engine efficiency. There is only so much energy in a gallon of gas. It takes so much energy to propel a vehicle. The engine's efficiency is limited by design (largest contributing factor being compression ratio). The instructor said that all those tales about super carbs were just tales. Of course, if someone can give us the patent numbers, we can check them out. I'm impressed that they have made the gains that they have.

It's kind of interesting that this topic came up. For any of you PBS fans NOVA just had a program on the car of the future. They touched on lots of stuff from fuels to alternative energies, increased efficiency, and reduced weight. It just so happens this is all available for download. I love this kind of stuff. Check this URL out . http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/car/program.html

Without going past the opening page, my knee-jerk reaction is having Tom and Ray Magliacci host a serious study of cars of the future is like having Bozo the Clown teach an upper division philosophy class.
