I think the 904 is an awesome car, but looks wise I think it looks unfinished in the rear. As far as that style goes, I think the Dino is MUCH better looking.

it's funny you bring up the 246 Dino; every time I see a 904 I wonder if Enzo didn't secretly love it too.

Though the Dino was for may years the 914 of Ferrari, scorned by the so-called purists as a NARF, man - what a car.

Nowadays they sure are priced like a 'real' Ferrari.

In '84 an insurance guy came to my brothers shop with a sell off portfolio; one of the cars was a '72 GTB with cosmetic front damage at the headlight. The nose section being one piece, even back then, it was like $$$$$$ from the factory. My brother took a pass and the guy offered it to me. I passed. He was asking 5 grand (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

I have always been a fan of the Dino and its smooth lines. I was surprised when I read a comparison of the 914/6 stock specs vs. the Dino in an article last year.

Hijack back on! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

The 914-6 was certainly a much better bang for the buck being less than 1/2 the price. Geez, I didn't know that the Dino was so pricey back then. In today's dollars, that would now be $82,851.86. Ouch! The 914-6 would cost $33,189.72. Priced less than any entry level Porsche is today.

Yes good points. In stock form the /6 was using the '69 911T motor, correct? What's that have 110hp?

A 2.2 or even a 2.4 911S motor would bring the hp more in line. And the /6 would enjoy a weight advantage.

If he got it in 1977, it is probably real
Ugly color though...it should be silver.
Did you get any shots of the engine bay?
Rich

I shoot the interview today with that guy as soon as I cut the show I will let every one take a look and yes I shoot the engine bay. The car is real its a prototype
has a 6 not a 4

Glad you guys got the interview and more pictures. I sensed there is more to this story.

How can we see the interview ? Can you post it on YouTube ?

There is a real 904 in the same color about 10 minutes from my place for sale here in Japan, it was fully restored and took three years to do, something happened to the owner and the car looks to be going up for sale, I heard someone mention "How about $900,000 dollars ?" on the phone

The same shop also is helping me out with my 914 and had another silver 904 show up a couple of months with a blown engine...I got some pics too but have not uploaded to my site, it was tucked away in the garage and hard to get good pics of but I was allowed to site in the car, what a dream! One of the most beautiful cars ever built

The guy who owned this also was the original owner of my /6. I love white cars.

The first 904 I ever saw (or more to the point, HEARD) was my first visit to Laguna Seca in the sixties, Don Wester was the pilot and you could hear the car driving thru the camping area...sounded like a singer sewing machine on steroids....it screamed over ALL the other cars....and as far as competitive if I remember correctly Wester won the race in his class. I don't think they are the prettiest Porsche but the sound of the 4-cam engine at full note was both unmistakable and unforgettable....at least to me. Second place the 917K at the same track a few years after in CAN-AM, but if I had my pic of all the Pcars I've ever seen it would be that bone stock Speedster Carerra we saw at the Portland races when the WCR was there......the original owner, bought it new, and still had it damn near 50 years later and about 100k on the clock.....now THAT car made me wet.......

Here is a quick teaser pic! I will try to add the rest later on after I resize them and upload them to my site. The garage is tiny so it was hard to get good pics, someday when I visit the other garage I will get pics of the gulf blue 904 that is for sale for only $900,000 dollars.
