I visited Porsche Museum yesterday. and the mercedes museum too.
You can do both in the same day. If you travel in Europe it's worth to stop at least one day in Stuttgart. Both museums have awesome architecture.

I uploaded a few pictures on flikr

The orange 914 is one of the two famour 8 cylinder cars. It's the 914111 http://www.914world.com/specs/prototypes.php You can spot the prototype style turn signal. The bumper is made out of stainless steel and the bumper pad looks like fiberglass with a coat of textured paint. Don't forget this car was built using the body of a hand made prototype.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumb3d.gif) Thank you for sharing those great pics. I've added the 904 and 917 photos to my Porsche archives. I would think that a PORSCHE enthusiast could spend the entire day at that museum.
Thanks again. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumb3d.gif)

Got this information from Porsche...

"The New Porsche Museum of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG in Stuttgart has already very much established itself as a popular destination. As the automobile manufacturer in Zuffenhausen is also expecting high numbers of visitors over the Easter and Whitsun holidays, the Porsche Museum, which is normally open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday, will also open its doors on Easter and Whit Monday as well as Good Friday, May Day, Ascension Day, and Corpus Christi. Since its opening on January 31, already over 80,000 visitors have explored the new Museum on the Porscheplatz.

There are 80 cars available for viewing in the current exhibition. Many of the cars have never before been exhibited such as the "Original Porsche" type 64 from 1939 or the 961, the only all-wheel drive Porsche to ever line up at the starting line in Le Mans. The Porsche Museum is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the admission fee is eight euros, discount four euros. Children up to the age of 14 years are admitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult.

For more information, please visit http://www.porsche.com/museum "

Thanks for sharing the photos. Amazing museum. Someday I hope I will get to go to Germany while in the Air Force and I will definitely have to go and check it out. I wouldn't want to leave thats for sure. Some of the most beautiful cars I have ever seen. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drunk.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif)

I need to go back and get better pictures. As an invitation for all, I am in the area so if you find yourself in Stuttgart, let me know and I'll buy you a beer.

Shar and I are going to Frankfurt in late August. Plane tickets are already paid for. Hopefully I'll still be employed so I can enjoy the trip. I'll certainly be visiting the Porsche museum. Van any of you guys in country give me some tips on car rental? Love to rent a P-car if possible, but that will be determined by $$$ on hand at the time.
