here's the description, when I 1st saw it on eBay in June 2005:
I am selling this porsche for a friend of mine, and it's in need of someT,L,C.. Unfortunately this car had a little fire, due to a faulty battery above the fuel lines.Hence the fire. The damage,(as seen in the photos) was mostly contained to the rear qtr and trunk, also damaging the rear bumper and r.r taillight.there is also fire damage to the front left fender caused by fuel spillage. Prior to the fire the car was garaged! After the mishap the owner took the engine and Trans out (engine is apart and Trans is intact) in hopes of restoring it. But as luck would have it he has ran out of time on the project. Before removal, the engine ran strong and shifted beautifully. The interior is in decent shape and needs a good cleaning. There doesn't appear to be any rips in the seats. For those in the know it does come with the DOG BONE!!! Also the undercarriage is in good shape. As some of you already know Porsche only made about 3,350 of these rare cars. To the highest bidder this car after being restored is going to be valuable. |

next time I saw it on eBay was September 2008:
Let me start out by saying that this is not a parts car. Any requests asking me to part out will be ignored. This vehicle has too much potential to just part out so please don't ask. This is a numbers matching Porsche 914/6. With this vehicle I have the C.O.A. from Porsche verifying that this is the real deal so bid with confidence. First, let me just state that this vehicle has a clear title, not a salvage and when I titled the vehicle I assumed that since it was 35 years old that the actual mileage had to actually be 119,835. After having the vehicle checked out by my body guy, he suggested to me that the actual mileage was probably 19,835. His reasoning was that it appears that the vehicle is actually sitting on the original tires that came with the car. The vehicle has the original brake calipers as well as other miscellaneous clues that made him think otherwise. The vehicle sustained fire damage to the hellhole area from a small crack that was in the fuel line. For the last 20 or so years the vehicle has been stored indoors and forgotten about. The engine appears to be in good shape but obviously disassembled as you can see from the pictures. The transmission is intact and appears to be just fine. I am including a NOS full replacement trunk piece that is worth $1000.00 by itself as well as an NOS inner rocker panel. This alone will fix a huge amount of the damage that the vehicle has sustained. The interior is almost perfect from what I can see, only a few holes in the side of the drivers seat. For what reason I am not sure, but I only have 3 of the original Fuch rims that the car came with but I do believe that the spare that is on it is original. Outside of the hellhole area as well as the trunk area the metal on the vehicle is well intact. I have tons of the original parts that came with the car such as the triple weber carburetors, original white headlight surrounds, dog bone (footrest), nuts, bolts, etc, too much to list in this description. The only reason that I am selling this vehicle after investing so much time and money into it is because I have decided to go back to school and have chosen to use this vehicle to finance some of it. --- Question & Answer Answered On Sep-07-08 Q: what was original cclor? any rust? what is missing? can everything be put in car for transport to west coast? do you have a buy it now? thanks, gary A: Hello Gary! The original color of the car is the signal orange color that you see in the pictures. As for rust, the main rust area is in the battery compartment which people refer to as the hellhole area and the passenger side rocker that the fire got to. The rest of the metal that you see on the car that is not orange has a surface rust but is solid.I have so many parts for the car it would be hard to tell you what I dont have. Some things that I know that I dont have are the engine wiring harness that was lost in the fire as well as the relay board and the 1 fuch rim that is missing and I dont have the rear valence.I do not have a buy it now price. As for transport you are in luck I have placed a majority of the parts in huge tupperware containers to keep them safe but keep in mind I have about 5 containers so transporting all of them will take a good amount of space as well as the metal front valence and the front and rear bumpers so you will have to be the judge on that. |

on eBay again in April 2009:
Up for sale is a numbers matching true 914/6 that has had an engine fire. I have the Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche stating that the engine came with this car. I purchased this some time ago but have too many projects so this must go! The car is mostly complete. I have a NOS complete rear trunk section and outer rocker that come with the car, but If you do not pick up the car I do not know how you would get this back, possibly the carrier or ship on a pallet. The engine is complete and disassembled by previous owner. The car rolls fine. The dash is good no cracks. All parts tubs are included. Small parts removed and put into tub such as headlights and tail lights. The car has a black interior in good condition, I removed it for storage. The car comes with a CLEAR ILLINOIS title. There are no heat exchangers with the car. This is NOT a parts car so don't ask for parts I will not respond. This car must be restored! The car comes with steel wheels, no Fuchs! |
