Progress? Very interested in this. Thanks for taking this on.

Somehow missed your posting. Been having some health issues for the last couple of weeks, and haven't been able to get much work done. But, so far, I only have a couple honey-dos this weekend, and should be able to make some progress.

At the very least, take some more detailed pictures of the pieces and modifications that I have already started.

I am going to also post a bill of materials including vendors for the parts that I am using.

So far, I have gotten parts from Bitz Racing, GPR and Summit racing.

I'm back....

Finally got some time to work on this. One of the first tasks is to remove the old injector bung and change it to one from the kit that is designed for the Accel EFI injectors...

Here's a picture showing the manifold with the old bung removed. You can see the new bung next to it and the old bung. I included the EFI injector to show all the pieces. I need to clean all the pieces before installng the bung.

This weekend, I will have the bungs installed, and will get the fuel rails together..

Very interesting!

Can I ask the size of the TB?
Does anyone have MS base maps for a 2.7 that I could have?

I'm helping a friend with twin plug and very seriously thinking of doing the same

Walter Just an FYI I have EFI experience, I have an SDS crankfire system on the 914 but it's for a four and is now going on the bug.

Mark,

I am using the stock CIS TB. Tony includes the base maps for the megasquirt. (He has both the 2.7l and the 3.0l)

Tony's system is not set up for ignition control. Though, some people have added it.

I was gonna say mount em like this but I think they only work at WOT. Makes sense since you wouldn't want to spray fuel on the butterflys I imagine.

(IMG:http://www.twminduction.com/ThrottleBody/ThrottleBody.imgs/3006_throttles_kit_lg.jpg)

If you look at the blue fuel rails at the bottom, those are the main injectors.
The spray bar at the top is for WOT only.

Hello Guys,

Made some more progress. This conversion should take about 10 -20 hours. It would be quicker if it was a 911 as the conversion is for that. The 914 is somewhat different, and some of the conversion manual does not match.

Besides, I am slow. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

So, I have all the mechanical injectors removed and the new Accel injectors installed, as seen in the picture.

Next, I need to modify the CIS airbox and install a backfire valve. In addition, I am going to be using a cone type air filter and not the stock filter, so, I need to cut up the box.

I was missing some parts, and was stalled on this. Thanks to Panelbilly, I am back on track, as I bought his CIS which had the missing parts. Tomorrow, I will finish the modifications to the airbox, and will be able to start the assembly.

My problem is, life gets in the way! Acck, either work, or honey-dos. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I will post some pictures tomorrow.

Thanks for the bump, and the motivation.

Still making slow progress. Here's the cutup airbox. (I have a spare one, if I mess this one up.) I need to clean up the edges, and general de-grease.

I am worried that the box is airtight. I have a popoff valve to install also.

I have already assembled the fuel rails, and I am going to do a mock up on the bench before I tear the carb off the running motor.

Should be able to make some more progress tomorrow.

Why do you think you have to install a pop-off valve ? That was used for the lean start issues with CIS are you anticipating the same with EFI ? Tony has sold enough of these that his base map should not make your airbox go boom.

Rather than use Webers for Throtte Bodies why not the Zenith, they are much cheaper and no one appears to use them.

Made some more progress today. (Still need to do the cleaning, etc.) This is a very basic mock-up of what it will look like. I placed the fuel rails near the injectors to give a general view. (Carb will need some major cleaning.)

So, next step is cleaning, and then I can assemble everything prior to going into the 914. I will do the fuel lines once the EFI is in the car.

I am working on pulling the seat out now, to put the control module inside the cab.

You must be a mind reader! Amazing. I was going to post some information tomorrow or Monday. My garage has been full with two projects, and havn't been able to get back to this one.

But, there will be an update soon. I should be able to finish this quickly now. (I have all the pieces ready, just need to get the car into the garage and start putting everything on.) And I have been doing a ton more research on megasquirt.

I haven't made up my mind to use the stock IAC or the Dark Star IAC : http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/custom-...valve-p-69.html

Thanks for the prodding! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Looking forward to your update. Really want to see how this turns out. Every time I look at the price of carbs I always come back to this.
