The first year I got my 914 the winter was worse than normal. We had a few nights of wicked wind chill -40 and -50 below. I was still living at home working and taking classes my dad came in around six in the morning and said the paint had peeled off the hood of my car, well I didn't beleive him as I thought he was playing a joke on me. When I did roll out of bed an hour later he was right. It had peeled off in a spiral starting in the center of the hood. The paint shop later told me that the metal condensed so much that the paint separated from the metal (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hissyfit.gif)

QUOTE(Ian Stott @ Nov 22 2010, 04:01 PM) *

-85 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, a few miles north of Minot ND. I was the foreman at the heavy equipment section responsible for snow removal on the runways, sent out a plow to hit the fingers of snow that creep onto the runways, cutting edge on the plow blade shattered, had to go out with brooms and shovels to clean it up and then a few passes with the magnetic sweeper. Coldest I have ever been; it is snowing here in Moncton today and I am next to the family room which has a nice fire going in the woodstove, I don't want to live thru that cold ever again.

w00t! I grew up in "The Jaw". Lots of cold available there over the years. Went to school in Saskatoon -- ~150 miles north of MJ -- slightly colder. My niece is a "park researcher" in Iqaliut (baffin island) -- her "cold stories" make all mine seem like puppy stuff. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

'course, I'm in San Jose now and I was freezing today. Musta been in the 50's!

Well it snowed in 73' & 85' flurries in 09' in San Antonio Tx. We were hunting in DelRio Tx. and the water jug froze in the camper while we were sleeping. Cold weather just does not happen here and that's ok by me.

No Way, but I will rub it how nice it is here. Today I spread the Rye grass seed wearing my shorts & flip-flops. Maybe I'll go to the Beach tomorrow (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

It's cold in L.A. when my CHT is below 250f and the intake temp is 80f, at 18 psi boost. Not complaining.

In my '91 4 cyl 4Runner, going up to Tahoe at night fully loaded (with chicks), the automatic choke came on, and I looked down and the temp gauge was at "cold"... this was after driving 3 hours at that point.

...you're scraping ice from the *inside* of the windshield of your 1965 VW Beetle and you can't turn on the heat or you will die of CO poisoning.

You know that it's really cold when the hoods and doors are still at your painter shop and you have to drive your 914 and the thermometer shows -13F (-25C)...and you discover that driving without roof makes less rime at the windshield...
