Just wondering what the alternative replacement fuel pump for a Stock FI system is?

It's hard to find a Stock fuel pump for decent prices since they are no longer avaialbe and most are rebuilt or refurbished.

Anyone?

Thanks

You CAN use the 75 76 pump (new 195.00 bosch) and move it to the front and replumb a bit. Will work just fine. If not the rebuilds just shy of 300 are a direct replacement and work great with a two year guarantee.

I bought a 2 port pump from TRE performance, frame rail mount for BMW i think. Mounted it in the rear, so far no problems. Had a 3/8 in 5/16 out, no adapters needed, but you will need to find a 3/8 in-3/8 out fuel filter. Have about 4K on it now. Was ~80 bucks I think. Front mount would probably be better, but for 80 bucks when the car was down was worth it.

Just about any FI pump will work (except for the direct injection pumps of course).

The stock systems run far lower fuel pressure than the new auto's.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) I was looking at fuel pumps on Summit Racing the other night and it occurred to me that there are a lot of pumps that should be perfectly suitable as replacements, despite the mounting complications.

Jeff, could post a shot of your pump set up if you have one. Would love to see how you did it (especially the pump mount).

Thanks, Tod

Thank's Jeff, that's a fiberglass valance. I picked it up at the parts heavan swap meet a couple years ago.
I still need to get the front valance and the rockers put on. I am going to modify the rockers so I've been waiting to put them on.

McMark, I am running a summit racing FP. it is their brand name pump. It works good but is noisy as heck. I have it mounted under the fuel tank. I ended up wrapping it in a rubber sleeve to quiet it down. That made a world of difference.

I am running 43psi injectors and it works great. It would work perfect for the stock FP these cars run.

I don't have a picture of the current (new) pump. Same set-up as this one, but I used a coil bracket to hold the new pump on same as the old one. Did not have to re-space the pump bracket at all, so it would for sure go on the stock isolators. This panel was made up and attached to the firewall, I didn't like the stock location since it's rusted away. The filter is a 3/8 in 3/8 out now, but same filter. Clamp on that is actually a rigid conduit clamp. Works perfect!

Nice job! I was going through the Samba sometime ago. Noticed a vw type 3 pump bracket. It held both the pump and filter. Might be another option for us. I'll look into getting a part number on it.

Do a search here.IIRC, someone (maybe charliew?) posted something about Delco fuel pumps. I believe he said all you need is to match the req'd operating pressure and fuel flow requirements of your particular set up. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

I have used this MSD pump for many different applications. It is a great high pressure pump with mounts.
