That's a cool trigger ring. Very simple and not much $$$. There is a thread here about a similar cnc made ring. A member made it for himself. Buying this one is way easier. If I ever put a speedo in, I will go this route....

lots of good ideas. thank you every body. so far the cv ring from pacific customs is still in the lead. i was thinking i could cut it in half and bolt it on in 2 pieces. that way i wouldnt have to remove the cv joint.

go here speedometersolutions.com

if prices haven't changed its like 195 or below for an electronic sensor that bolts to the angle drive. fits perfect and works great with my autometer speedometer. u will have to call the place to order the part, I don't think they advertise it on their website

I have added a electronic speedo to my subaru 914 car and just used the stock VSS Subaru pulse sender. It really makes for a good speedometer. It is very accurate after you program it. On my V8 car I used a small inline pulse sender and cut a speedometer cable about a inch long and mounted the sender on the end of it.
Heres a picture of the speedo in the Subaru car got it at Summit racing about $70

nice...i figured im not the first one to do such a project. i think im going to go with the trigger wheel and sensor. i seems to be the easiest and cheapest.

now, is there a way to completely eliminate the 90 degree speedo thing on the gear box? mine leaks anyways, and if there is some sort of plug or somthing to replace it that would be real cool. do any of our vendors make such a thing?

You can install a rubber freeze plug from any auto parts store, had one in my racecar tranny for 12 years. You need to put a shorter 8mm bolt in the retainer bolt hole and a sealing washer because gear oil will leak out of there.
