I bid on the 'Karo' ski rack in Germany, but was out bid at the last second!

The KARO brand attaches to features specifically incorporated in the 914 body for a ski rack or a luggage rack. It can be used with the top on or off.
Please see pictures included in recent BORMIO, Italy 914 thread.
Two cars at that event had them.
