I replaced my speedo cable as it never worked since finishing my build. It was one of the little things I left for later. Anyway, The speedometer works but the odometer and the trip meter do not move.

Any advise, hits, etc. Is this something I need to send out to N. Hollywood Speedo. I would like to get the guage redone since my tach is nice and new with fresh paint, etc.

Let me know what you fellas think could be the problem.

This Pelican article explains how to fix the Odometer yourself. I attempted it and failed... probably screwed it up worse than before. Someday I'll have it rebuilt.

FWIW, the reason that the Odo & Trip Odo break is that you cannot use the trip odometer reset while the car is in motion... doing so puts too much strain on the gear that drives the odometer and it comes loose.

I never knew that was WHY it failed. I have repaired 5-6 without too much trouble. a paint can opening tool makes prying the face off a breeze. It probably wont look as good as one from NHS (some road rash on the backside of the bezel-not visible), but it won't cost you any benjamins either...

Send it to me or we can meet some place in the middle. I live in Hemet and repair these for $40.
See my Vendor site below for details.

Following the Pelican article I repaired mine (and it works). Not too difficult if you follow the article, and I agree it is worth a shot vs spending $$$$.

I just fixed mine last weekend-follow the pelican article and some tips:
1. Use a very small screwdriver around the ring that holds the lens on and then very carefully turn it and slide it underneath the rest of the way. This way it won't look like you used a can opener to open it up.
2. I used a vice grips to make the center hole a bit oblong on the gear-worked great 200+ miles since last Thursday's fix.
2+. You will need to loosen the face plate screws-but DO NOT take the needle off or you will need to recalibrate!
3. To close up the metal housing use a PLASTIC screen spline tool to rebend the lens ring (no scratches and still looks like it was put on at the factory).

Like the article said, you just need patience.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) The Pelican Article is the bomb on this subject. Don't mess around with glue on the gears...use vice grips a little at a time till the gear fits snug.
