Oh, I forgot to mention. The chosen one will be regaled with my tales of working for "Dr. 914" for two years. It'll be fun... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drunk.gif)

Nice, Buttercup gets my vote also. Bringing new and old friends together selflessly. People sending parts from around the 914world for a common purpose. 914world at it's finest.

Edit: It's a world story that included bringing in a new member and finding out about ourselves. It's about all of us.

I don't think I've ever seen a write up in about LE's. Jeff Bowlsby is a great source for them.

I know its a treck but maybe something that can be done via the internet ... But I vite for Micheal's car ... His BB is great looking and handle very well ... say it in January at the Nor Cal East Bay New Years Day run this year along with almost 60 other cars and his stood out in the crowd ... His wife's car is also a very fine example .....

Just to correct you Steve, the LE is Lisa's car. Michael has the 6... And it is every bit as nice as it looks.

they both kept up with my 911 on the drive ...and had a lot of eyeballs at our lunch break .. they had the only 914's there for one thing but that is really good in a field of 911's that the 914's get the attention ... + Micheal, his wife and kids are all great people .... even the kids very well behaved after all the sugar from my wife's rice crispy treats ... and very polite at that ....

A BIG Thank You to all of you who mentioned Buttercup. I am so VERY proud to tell her story, to anyone who will listen.
I will be forever grateful to 914World friends, who made this car possible. What started out as an attempt for my family to find something positive to do to honor Lee while we were hurting so badly, has brought us all considerable joy from the adopted "brothers" (and sisters!) we got out of the deal!
Thank you so much for continuing to remember the story of a very special little yellow car.....
With love and gratitude, always.

How about a slightly modified 914 with a JDM Subaru Engine and Lotus Elise Double A-arm suspension?

Man, I would love to profile your car, but unfortunately I don't see myself getting to California anytime soon. Drive it to Parade in Michigan next year? Do it! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

Kansas, Ohio, California. I really hope your criteria to put a car in your magazine is not limited by your near proximity. What year is this? WWWage.
Buttercup has the best story. Sounds like the hands-down story choice. No-brainer.
I think Andyrew's project is worthy of consideration too, given his story and all the work he has done himself from the beginning, by a young buck kicking ass. Proximity to you shouldn't be a consideration!!!!! Unless you are the local Nickle Ads.

Maybe if more people subscribed, proximity would be less of a consideration! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

As it is, I owe the govt a ton of money for my glorious education, and I sell Porsche parts as a day job, it isn't as though I'm flush with cash, and a plane ticket to California is awfully expensive.

9Magazine is a phenomenal magazine, but we don't exactly have the budget of "the other guys". We are enthusiasts, doing this because we are enthusiastic about Porsche, not because we want to be millionaires (though that would be an AWESOME side benefit. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) )

I doubt that the Buttercup story could be told in one article. First there was the innocent first post from Mary asking for advice and the subsequent flood of parts arriving at her door from all corners of the continent. Then there were the logistical visits to catalog the parts inventory and plot the build sequence and then of course, The Build itself. Interspersed in there was a visit by Dr. Evil to rebuild the gearbox among other notable events. It's an epic that could provide compelling content to your mag for two, maybe three issues.

I think the Buttercup story is first.

Outside of that, I have two very slightly modified 914's that each have some very interesting history - one as a Targa Newfoundland survivor and the other as a never-ending-upgrade-and-development club racer...

though Charlotte is probably a bit too far huh?

I think Buttercup is first, too.

I've always wanted to go to Charlotte, and SWMBO likes it there, so we could be convinced into making it a 3 day weekend trip.

I've seen Papa at Road Atlanta before. It would be cool to do a piece on both of yours as well.

Sounds like we are booked up on 914 pieces for the next three years! lol. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

There are already hundreds, if not more, pictures of the Buttercup build. Get permission to use the photo's, do a couple phone interviews with Mary and maybe some of the people who helped out and you're good to go. Then maybe do a story on the yellow GT conversion in Austraila that a member converted to right hand drive. No reason you have to be present with the internet. Right?

Ya, Buttercup could get a part one and part easy.

There are more awesome 914's here in the midwest that we ever really see. Because of the seasons we have our summer fun and exposure is limited.

Just to mention a few here in MN we have Chappy's Turbo, and Pauls car that has just been finished and ready to get some real miles put on her. This summer Sandy's Ravenna will finally see the light of day after being saved from death at the hands of a sawsall. Another guy you don't see post anymore is Kelly with his Lapsis blue car.

That is an excellent point. There is, however, something to be said for experiencing it first hand. I can't exactly write a drive report, or even truly experience the car without seeing it first hand. The sights, smells, and emotions cannot truly be expressed without being there.

Besides, Buttercup sounds like a story that deserves more than a half-assed telling. If I'm going to do that piece, I want to do it right. (By the way, it sounds like that is exactly what I will be doing.) You will hear more as the story progresses.
