Just got home from Tweeks about 2 hours ago.A lot of great 914s.I think that's the most that I've seen there.
There is a really good restaurant here at Fort Davidson if you wanted to eat down here. It's 3 miles from Elephant Rocks. But you guys up there can decide that.Johnson Shut-ins gets busy on a hot day with all of the locals wanting to swim,so we might have to wait to get in.It's still a great ride to get there, though. The 26th sounds good!

Mark me down as going, most likely by myself.

Dave, from what I understand, there are about 10 914 owners in the St. Louis PCA, but only know 2 or 3. The others must be hiding in the closet. Did you get the guy's name who owns the orange 914/6? If so, I can look in my PCA directory.

In the six years that I've be;longed to the PCA, I've been the only 914 partaking in the road trips. Go figure!

Shelby's idea about eating after the drive seems like a good one to me. It gives us a destination. After lunch, Elephant Rock?

Gary,
He said his name but with, Gary, Shelby, Mark, another Mark (selling the 3.0 litre motor w/broken head stud{motor was in back of his Suburban}), Mike, Tony, Mary Joe, Ron, and many more I can't recall his name.

He said he autocrosses it with the SCCA and said the car used to be owned by Glenn Stalzec (sp?) I know him by reputation as the 914/6 guru used to have a good website somewhere.

I didn't get to talk with the owner of the blue 914/6 don't know if you noticed it or not it's not in the pics "736 conver" took, it had an old"squared" off rear bumper and Mahle gas burners nice car!

I was comming home from the mills earlier today and saw the white '75 (only 34k original miles) he was going west bound on 270.

I'll join you in the PCA road trips. Do they always drive that much over 100mph on the freeways? My car did not get 30mpg with rpm 4800 in fifth gear! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rocking nana.gif)
And I thought Effingham was an hour and a half away (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Dave,

For the most part, the PCA road trips tend to avoid the straight multilane freeways, preferring the winding, twisting back roads. I recall some trips where a couple of members were up towards 130 MPH. Too much speed for driving on unfamiliar roads.

Check out the St. Louis PCA website: http://vista.pca.org/stl/

Should tell you who to contact regarding membership. I believe it's Gary Bachmann.

I do recall the blue /6 at Tweeks. Good looking car.

Gary,
I'm a long time member of PCA (mostly for the magazine and $100 off coupon).

I'm just new to this region. The STL region event listing was haow I found out about the Funfest.

Oh some more names from the Funfest: Sean, another Mike, and it was good to see Brad again (last time was during the 2000 MUSR).

Meeting at Hooters in South County... that works too!

Did we come up with a time yet??

I'm kinda upset I missed the funfest. Isn't Effingham that town with the HUGE cross right off rt 70??

9:30-10:00 am? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

We could grab a light snack at Hooter's then head over to Hwy 21.
That'd put us down at Fort Davidson (Ironton?) around 11:30 or so for an early lunch.

Hey 'Flatout', we always stopped in Ironton on our way to to Anapolis or Lesterville to gas up. We've come in from either Potosi or Farmington (went right past Fort Davidson) and I don't remember seeing any restaurants. Then again, we were more concerned about getting to the camp grounds and cracking the cooler (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif)

So, what's the name/location of this restaurant down there?

9:30 am at Hooters??

Ew... too early.... we need to find an IHOP or something--LMFAO

Unless it's just a meeting point... to do a "caravan" down south.. thats cool.

Hey Kevin.. is that your new ride?? that looks SWEET! I like those wheels.... sometimes I think I should have gotten those instead of my Fuchs. Lets see some interior pics!

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) Good point Matt...hot wings probably aren't the best choice for breakfast.

Let me do a little recon down there in the next day or so to see what's actually down there.

The interior (with exception of a crack in the dash) is excellent! The outside looks better in the pic than in real life (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) ....but it RUNS (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mueba.gif)

The restaurant is called Fort Davidson it's at the four way coming in from Farmington on hiway V in Pilot Knob. We live in Pilot Knob about four blocks from the intersection. Coming down 21 you will need to turn off the hiway to the left heading back to the fort museum....Shelby

I think I remember seeing the place now, across the street at the north end of the Fort? I believe we went past it cutting the corner coming in from Farmington (instead of going all the way to 21 and making a left). At any rate, I doknow where the Fort is, so we'll find it. Okay, the weekend looks absolutely great weatherwise. Everyone still up for a drive? I've got a few things to tweak before I'm ready (may have to do a "temporary" plate swap (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) ), but it seems to be running fine! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/MDB2.gif)

Well.....here's what I'm thinking.

STL914 and Matt, if you're still game how about meeting at O'Charles in Fenton at around 10:00 - 10:30, and hitting Hwy 21 from there (big time [as in road closed] construction/destruction on Lindberg Ave near Hooter's). I'm assuming that STL914 knows where the "Gravois Bluffs" shopping center is in Fenton (I-270 to Hwy 30, south towards Arnold [can't miss it]), so Matt (a.k.a. ninefourteener), come up I-255/I-270 like you were going to Hooter's in south county, but stay on I-270 north until you get to Gravois (a.k.a. Hwy 30). Turn left on Gravois and follow it down to Hwy 141 (2-3 miles). Make a left on Hwy 141 and in a couple of lights you'll see "Gravois Bluffs" shopping center (again, can't miss it...huge boulders). When you pull in to the shopping center there's a Sonic on your left, turn left there and follow it down to O'Charlies.

So flatout and eresener, I'm guessing that if we got on the road down there at around 10:30 - 11:00, we should be down there (Fort Davidson) about 12:00 - 12:30. Flatout, does that sound about right?

We could do some lunch at the Restuarant there in Fort Davidson (which I believe is also a Civil War battle site?), and then you 'locals' could show us around (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

A little side note for ninefourteener and STL914, there is a more direct route (I-55) if you want to get back home faster (but why?).

Just in case you get lost: O'Charlies - 190 Gravois Bluff Circle, Fenton (636) 326-5106

Me and the wife are going for a ride (she loves Elephant Rocks/Johnson Shut-ins area) regardless, but company would be preferrable (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Kevin,

Not sure if I'll be there tomorrow. Several things I need to get done around here before I can play. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

If you have a cell phone, PM me your number and I can let you know tomorrow AM if I won't be there.
