If anyone has done the mod to nix the stock side markers and add them behind the front wheels, can you please post up some pics and info on the donors the new lights came from?

I've done the searches and turned up a couple but I'm interested in knowing which latter parts had the smoothest, best looking lines. Would assume grafting in the surrounding metal from the donor to give the recessed look would be the best option.

Thanks.

I removed my markers and relocated some VW type 3 markers (used some pics from TheSamba - ISP West).

I know this is a old post but I thought I would add some info. I purchased my 914 in Jan 1980 and it had 1968 Mopar side lights installed they were small but had a much cleaner look than stock ones . The chrome was painted the color of the body

Were these mounted where the stock warts go? I'm interested in finding something flush that'll look good behind each front wheel.

What about finding something you like and section it into the fender? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

I always thought those would be a good choice. Do you have any installed pictures?

I've been thinking about mounting a small LED strip in the plastic surround of the pop up headlight. I haven't gotten around to see if it is feasible yet.

I will have to dig in my archives to find a photo with them. I have moved a FEW times since then and the car has since been GT'd out in 1984 and the side markers removed at that time . They were about 4 inches up from the bottom of the fender and centered between the wheel arch and bumper. What is nice about the " Whale Eyes" is that they do come in red and orange if I am not mistaken.

Or find someone parting out one of those cars! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Thanks again, Mike!

My parts are going to wait till the weather turns cold. But I will post pics of the grafting process.

Cheers!

The 930 had small square ones that would work really nice behind the front wheels. I'll dig one out and post a pic. They are cheaper than stock 914 units too.
