Looking for DD quality re-chroming in SoCal (LA area prefered). I've got these two so far:

The Bumper Shop: Mixed results; some say ok, others say stay away. Good prices.

Bumper Man: ??

Any others I should look at or avoid?

Thanks,

Andys

Astro plating just off Sepulveda bl. In van Nuys.
Near the Costco and Pep boys .
Check information 411 for tele#.
They are established, old school and high QC.
I recommend.

You did say DD quality. I'd go to the Bumper Shop.

Just make sure they know exactly what you expect and want..right down to the quality of the chroming.

My dad wanted, and asked for, show chrome from the Bumper Shop. He got a DD quality job. We weren't impressed.

They did OK work for a DD, but it wasn't what we asked for.

The only other place I know is Artistic Silver Plating. They aren't DD quality. Their basic chrome on my Fuchs was what many consider show chrome, and their show chrome is "by the hour, until it's perfect."

I suggest going to the Auto Swap Meet at Veteran's Stadium. A couple of different bumper guys show up. Check all their prices, and take a good look at their work. They always bring their best work to show off.

Beware though... Make sure you specify that you want your bumpers back, not a chromed set that they have. We had a shop give us back a set of bumpers that we knew weren't what we turned in. They had been straightened, and ours had never been bent.

Do a search on the H.A.M.B.--they have pages on this. They even get into places that take your stuff down to subcontractors in Mexico (lower price due to lesser environmental concerns of their gov).

..Just don't mention the 914 or post a pic of it on the HAMB. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/new_shocked.gif)
