So I have some nice looking floor mats. They sit on top of my carpeting. Only one small problem; after a while of driving they begin to bunch up on the accelerator pedal and keep my idle up. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) (See first / top pic)
I keep having to reach down under the front of my seat and pull them back. They have grommets for keepers but they don't line up with the stock pegs. (See middle pic) I was hoping to utilize the stock pegs. I have seen aftermarket generic clips (see Last / bottom pic). I was hoping to utilize the stock pegs... I was hoping that someone else has solved this problem and could make recommendations so as to avoid a trial and error experience for myself. Thanks in advance for the assistance. Check JC Whitney. They used to have the oddball offerings similar to this. Also, some OEMs used to make extended carpet pins that also rotated 360° (don't know why) and had the modern hook type pin. You may have to call a auto carpet retailer to see wgat they know. Lastly, hit a pick'n'pull or similar and see what the donor cars of different makes have...

I can't remember where however (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) rrrrr. Last resort is a U-pic-a-part. |

Someone here sewed or glued a yoga mat (they come in all colors) onto the back of that carpet section to reduce noise and give it some structure. Looked like a simple and functional option.

I'm not real fond of anything that puts a hole throught the tar and metal. Any water penetration will have an opening to beneath the tar.
There has to be a better way. |

I made my own with a piece of coat hanger. I made a loop and screwed it to the seat mount. the other end hooks into the grommet. Works great, cost nothing.

I do like the solutions you found, especially the latter. Did the Greek site state US Dollars only, just wondering.
And, Mark has a good point as well. How would a sticky backed strip of heavy loop Velcro work? Seems like it would grab well, and could be pulled from the back edge of the carpet/matt connection when cleaning(?). |

If the pins are simply too short, Drill and tap them and use a screw and washer. |

If the pins are simply too short, Drill and tap them and use a screw and washer. Ironically, I was originally planning on going your: drill, tap and bolt route. But alass the grommets on the carpet mats do not align. Nor do the stars on this one. I guess that I could add a second pair of grommets per mat but I think that it would look excessive. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) Thanks for the idea. |

Interesting that this is the strongest recommendation of them all. A bit more laborious but how much time have I spent researching options! |

I am definately NOT drilling a hole in my solid floor pans to secure floor a pair of floor mats! That is definately not a good idea. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) I do think however that the "pin screws" shown (the little specialty grommets with philips heads and plastic screw shanks below) would only screw into the carpet and rubber beneath and not through the metal floor. ...I think. |

I made my own with a piece of coat hanger. I made a loop and screwed it to the seat mount. the other end hooks into the grommet. Works great, cost nothing. Finished / Installed. I did almost exactly that... Bought raw mild steel wire rod. Bent cut welded the loop closed. spot welded the wire together to reinforce it. media blasted it. Primed and painted Heat shrinked the end that I would occasionally step on that also came into contact with the other metal (grommet) so as to minimize electrolisis. Used a stainless steel truss screw to secure it to the seat cross member. Pics to come. Works absolutely perfect! Plus no holes in the carpet or the floor! |

I have an idea from the music industry. Strap lock. Hard to describe but it would work perfectly with our existing floor posts. I'll try to get a picture.

Eric, That would be a very nice finish and they are available in a multitude of finishes at that. Black Chrome would work. It would seem that they would have to be installed through the floor for my specific application however. Found some pics. Let me know if this is what you were referring to.
