It is low mileage, and seems relatively original. Though the owner needs to learn the difference between magnesium and aluminum. I'd say according to the last valuations that Bruce Anderson (RIP) did it is worth an easy $18K and it isn't unusual for sellers to ask more than they expect to give themselves a starting point for negotiation.

Craigslist is the wrong place to sell this kind of quality though...

That's a pretty nice looking Phoenix Red car. An early Aug. '72 build too.

Maybe Scotty knows it?

Nice car and it's East coast. I think it's priced right.

Any car that required long reinforcement isn't worth 24 or even 18k to me. Even if it did not need it, it still seems like a bit of a blemish to me. 76000 miles is lower, but not super low. Maybe I am just used to west coast prices, but I would say maybe $15k

I couldn't get my 1974 2.0L to that condition for $24K. And mine is definitely not low mileage like that. $24K seems about right to me for the condition of the car.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) It's not just the condition its the documentation....if its that well documented, and it meets PPI expectations, its got to be north of 20k

Not entirely sure what he means by that. I see that you think he fixed rusty longs and I get that that is what it could be. But my longs are reinforced. On mine it's called an Engman kit. Brad Mayeur has an external long reinforcement kit as well. Mine has no rust. I did it for handling. Could be this owner did the same. From his description, I doubt it has rust...

nope. I know of one orange one downtown but it's nowhere near this nice. This one is right in my old stomping grounds. If someone wants a PPI let me know. I'd love to look it over, but don't have the time to do it just for kicks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I hate looking back at these threads and finding nothing to reference. So, for posterity ...

This is one of the best most highly documented Porsche 914's in the United States. It is two owner car. Bought new at Salem (Va) Porsche in 1973. Sold to me by original owner 5 years ago. This car has never spent a night outside a garage. Has 76,000 original miles. Phoenix Red with full appearance group. Console with instrument cluster. Everything is original and matching numbers. In virtual show room condition. Has been shown at Hershey, PA Concours de Elegance. For me it is an occasional driver on a sunny day. Runs like new. I have every receipt for everything ever done to the car. Complete service records. I have original invoice and key card. Original 914 booklet is included. Has magnesium alloy wheels. New tires for road driving. I have a second set of magnesium alloy wheels and stickier tires that also come with the car ($1000 value right there) in case you want to take it to VIR on Porsche day or another road course. Only things done to the car that are not original is stainless steel heater boxes were installed; fuel pump moved to front near tank to avoid vapor lock; and frame rails reinforced 12 years ago (photos of that procedure are available too). Have Letter of Authentication from Porsche of North America. One of the nicest 914's still in existence. Call for an appointment to see this rare opportunity.

There's another thread about adding up receipts ... well, I'd bet a lot of you would end up spending that amount to arrive at the condition this car appears to be in.

Pricey? If this is the original paint, interior, etc, it's clearly a very good condition specimen, and possibly very well worth close to his asking price.

Nice car, love to see the high valuation. It is a 73 2.0 which seems to be the car most people want.

Has painted posts, not vinyl so it's not one of the first 1000 "S" cars. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
