Still going thru wiring and now notice that there are 4 large gage brown wires extending from what seems to be the OEM harness into the engine bay on pass side that were connected to the + batt terminal. These 4 brown wires do not enter the center tunnel, so where do thy go and why brown wires to a + terminal ????
I've never had the car running or electrically powered up, but that's the way it was wired when i got it. I don't like the idea of cutting into the harness protective cover to try tracing these wires. The wire for the oil temp x-ducer in the taco can comes out of this same harness. The car is a 76, if that helps.
Anyone got some ideas ??

I think they were red originally and have faded into a brown color

should be four red wires, and they do indeed enter the center tunnel.

Get an ohm meter.
Get a sewing needle.

Find the four RED wires in the tunnel, right around the shifter you can get to them.
stick the needle through the middle of the wire.

Ohm out the other end in the engine bay.

Do all four
You can then follow them to the correct end at the ignition switch of fuse panel.
They go to both places.

Why do you need 'ideas' from the mob? Have you looked at the wiring schematic?

The 1975-76 schematic shows four red wires. Two go to the relay board. One goes to the fuse panel. One goes to the headlight switch.

Jeff:
Thanks just got freaked out by the brown, pulling back the cover a little and they are now showing red. Yes I have color schematics, problem solved

Speaking of this...

For this specific issue, and another car, does anyone know of a secure mono block type unit that could be mounted to the inner fender specifically for these wires.
It would need a cover, and screws to hold down not only the small wires, but one larger wire from the battery.

Rich, I have 3 of these installed. Search Amazon & eBay for better pricing. IIRC, I paid $15 for this style w/ fuses. 8ga pigtail and screw terminasl which I prefer over spade fittings. JMHO
