Saw this article on Jalopnik this morning. Porsche is selling a GPS head unit that fits in the older radio spots:

You know, that's probably the best option. Since I haven't driven a 914 since 1990, I hadn't thought about where to stick a smartphone in one, but the ashtray is in the perfect spot, isn't it.
