Hey Everyone!

I tried to do a search for what you all do for sail panel vinyl and roof care/maintenance, but couldn't find anything.

Outside of regular washing, what steps do you take to keep the vinyl and roof looking rich and black?

My car should arrive tomorrow (I'll post pictures), and since I can't get it registered until Monday, I plan on taking some time to feel up my new 914 by giving it a wax.

Thanks in advance!

I really like to use 303 aerospace protectant. I use it on my targa top, and other rubber bits. Havent used it on vinyl, I would assume it works just fine!

I would agree on the 303 protectant (you can buy it on Amazon easily). I was searching for a replacement for the discontinued Turtle Wax vinyl top wax (I have a thing for large American cars), and the 303 was mentioned several times. I've been using it for a few years now, and it is truly amazing stuff. It looks like Armor-All right out of the bottle, but is not greasy and will not run when it gets wet. It also does not attract and hold dust - it's dry once lightly buffed.

Awesome recommendations! I had never heard of 303, but will give it a shot. Thank you!

I think that's in the cards down the line, but I'm going to try to care for it as-is. Once I can comfortably afford a proper respray, I'll go for that.

The only stores I have found 303 in is Camping World and West Marine. Fantastic stuff, but they don't give it away. $56 a gallon....

303 dries instantly and leaves a light sheen. I think I bought mine from 914 rubber a year ago but don't see it on his site now. U might email him to see if it's available.

It's easy to find on Amazon in a variety of sizes and delivery methods (spray, jug, and wipes).

Buy a gallon. I use it on vinyl, gelcoat, leather, tires, moldings, etc.... Aerospace makes lots of other stuff of the car too. I really like their wipes that re-new your windshield wipers.

The key to 303 is that it has UV protection, it does not contain silicone which can dry out the plasticizers over time, and that it does not come off immediately with water. I used to use it on my sail boat hull twice a season. It would bring back the gelcoat and would simply wipe on.

I also painted. I used dupla color bed armor. Flat finish and left some spittal for texture. From 10' it looks like vinyl.
