the wire harness will be the hardest part for me to do,..So Iam looking for the easy way out,..But I do want to upgrade the EG33,.in the future( once its in and running)
I have NO wiring ability, so it needs to be very straight forwards,..How can I learn to do this,..use the car harness,..or create a harness,..I want to tie in to the 914 chassis system,..and use as much of the stk system as possible,..then add water temp gauge, and a oil temp gauge,..??? Plus which engine is better, older or newer Thanks,. Frank |

Chris H. should be able to comment on this as we recently spoke re: this. FWIW, Chris will be swapping out the factory ECU for a Mega Squirt system. Seems to be a problem that the EG series has. I haven't had heard of this problem with the EZ series. Kent (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Yeah I THINK I will be doing MS. BIGKAT is a huge fan and his car ran great with it. The thing with the stock ECU is that it seems to try to "learn" a little too often, so there are issues with idle and occasionally it seems run rich because it is looking for things that are not there, like the EGR system, etc.
I was thinking about doing this: subiechips upgraded chip Puts a pretty static map in and eliminates the EGR system. Problem is the chip is now $329!!! It used to be half that. I think the guy does group buys sometimes. For a couple hundred more total (kit is $430, then you need a cable, simulator to test your work, etc) you can get a fully tunable brand new MS. You have to BUILD it but it plugs right in to your harness: SVX DIYPMP Kit Megasquirt is pretty cool. They have everything. They sell a relay board, sensors, etc. BTW to answer your question, you need to use the existing wiring. The connectors are specific to the injectors and controls of the car. Do some searches for EG33 conversion wiring. Start with this series (and make sure you get a dog like this guy's (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnDlYqHDthU Watch all of them, not just the first one by clicking the user name and then choose his videos. He has a bunch. |
