Thanx to Andy B. & the rest of the members here who are & have served. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/flag.gif)

Also Thanx for my son (Sgt. Army Infantry, 4th Div. Ft. Carson, deployed 2013 Afghanistan with 10th Div.), & my 8 nephews who are/have served & 4 deployed (so far), & my brother (Cpl. The very best thing you can do to show your appreciation of what veterans have done for this country is VOTE. Register and vote. It doesn't matter (and I don't care) who you vote for but stop with the apathetic attitude and exercise your right to vote that has been protected by the sacrifices made by all the veterans you choose to honor today. "Thank you for your service" is hollow and meaningless when said by someone who is too lazy or just can't be bothered to vote. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/flag.gif)

Curt, may have been a different base in Thailand, but did you ever run across this guy (Robin Olds) when you were working with "Thuds?" Read his biography a couple of years ago. What a stud.

Yes, thanks for everyone's service (yes, including the Navy guys (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) ).

I enjoy reading all the tributes to our troops here and abroad, reading of their service records and experiences, knowing full well what price freedom has. My dad served in the Navy for 28 yrs, mostly in Public Affairs but included a 12 carrier tour in 1 yr during Viet Nam. He was on the Forrestal when it went up in flames along with then pilot Lt. John McCain whose father was an admiral during that same period. And Admiral Morrison, Jims father! He had the privilege to debrief McCain after his release from N. Vietnamese POW camps and those two experiences pretty much left him speechless. He didn't talk much about those but after his retirement he threw himself into more schooling, earning him his Masters in Journalism, Masters in Communication along with a teaching degree and an Associates in Radio and TV production. He used those further to teach at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah for a number of years while we were building our home in the mountains at the same time. He passed in 91 at the age of 58...
I often feel insignificant in the shadow of a Veteran that served in the Armed Forces and continued to serve his fellow man in education. And found the time to be my dad.Attached Image
