Hi there. I've been lurking around here for about a year on this forum, but never posted or introduced myself (i'm both rude and shy (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) ) . My name is Metzger and i have a narrowbody 71-914. First i thought i'll keep it that way but as always i f..k up. Yesterday my favoriteweels came up for sale and i just had to buy them. Now my ? They are 10"and 9"×17" . Are there anyone who makes gt-flares that can cover those wheels. Like the look of the original style. The can-am type not so much. Btw they sat on 930. Pardon my poor english. I habla you and i hope habla mine.

Sheridan wide body kit may do the trick, air racing might also do it, or get metal flares and cut them and add in a strip to widen them

Do your research on wheel / tire / spring / flare options. Ideally find someone with your wheels and find out what they did.

Enjoy!

What size tires do you plan to run and what off-set are the wheels?

One of my previous 914's had I believe the GT racing largest fiberglass flares they sell. I was running Hartman Racing 2 piece wheels

Front:
8X17 with a 5.25 inch inner offset (133.35mm or 13.335cm)
245/45/17 Yokohama A032R
Rear:
9.5X17 with a 5.5 inch inner offset (139.7mm or 13.97cm)
P275/40/ZR17 Yokohama A032R

Pics from my for sale ad:
http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?sho...=Hartman+wheels

You will notice the car had rear flairs on the front ( came with the car and I think they looked funky). There was no need to run that large of flairs in the front.

There are several vendors that make wider fiberglass GT flares that will fit those wheels.

You can also get the metal GT flares and widen them yourself to fit your wheel/tire combo.
There are several threads around on how to do that.

Thanks for the reply folk's. I've worked with vw before and saved the motor from my last project. That just happened to be a t4 engine. I realy like those motors.

HPH Bontempi flares can take 9's and 10's as thats what I am running. 245 front 285 rear.

They are a little wider than the GT flare but I would bet the GT flares might be able to fit them.

They are either origional or reproduction. Origional sets go for $3-4K. Reproduction all originate from automobile Atlanta for $1,000 - $1,200. You can often buy the repros from members for around $800-900.
