I do wonder if PCA National is having issues as the annual Parade seems to have more drama than necessary (registration, housing, etc.), though they did a great job of moving the concour site at the last minute at French Lick.

No drama, just smart planning. The mid-atlantic/northeast is where the bulk of PCA membership lives. Even though there was over 750 rooms, we wanted the members to know as soon as possible if there would be an issue with finding housing. Better to find out in December than April, right?

The Parade crew is an amazing group of volunteers who do a job that would exceed that of a paid staff (passion is always the driving force). Heck, I was the Zone 2 DE registrar for seven years. That was one event and 250 cars AND a whole heck of a lot of work (over 400 emails for each year)....can't imagine how the Parade registrar does it with over 1000 entrants each year.

Well,
Who could have known that the venue would come under investigation from both state and federal law enforcement, as well as the SEC....
It's a sad situation up there, I hope the parade staff get it all straightened out.

Rich

Sadly there are many more stories behind this...
It was an ugly scam.

That's old news from April 15th. Since that time control of the resort was taken away from the owners and given to a new management company appointed by the government that specializes in this. The management team and key personnel from Jay Peak flew down to Maryland to meet with the Executive Director and Parade Chair. There's no reason to believe that this Parade will be negatively affected by the affairs of the owners. The resort, its employees and from I've heard, the town is very excited to have us. Supposedly we will be the largest event they've ever hosted (this is very common since Parade takes up an entire week and not just a weekend). I know my wife, daughter and I are pumped that it's almost here.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) other than some may know the back story, this should have no effect whatever on the event.

After 33 years in the music industry and working directly (associate publisher) with Guitar Player and Bass Player Magazines and indirectly with all of the others, I got to know books inside and out.

I'm not one to blow smoke up anyone's kilt. With that in mind, I will say this; Pete Stout is, hands down, the best editor I've ever had the opportunity to work with and to watch work. Mixing politics and passion is not for the faint of heart. Pete makes it look like child's play.

Carry on Mr. Pete. We'll miss you!! Please make sure the next guys are paying you what you're worth (which is damned near impossible I'd imagine)! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I'm looking forward to seeing where he lands next! There's a good chance it will move up higher on my "gotta read" list.

Thanks, everyone.

I'm just fine and very excited for the road ahead. I will of course share more when I can, but my first priority now is to take a break, rest, and recharge for the next adventure.

Was nice to meet you on Saturday, too, Steve...a good reminder that's it's good to get out a bit. And the drive over was a good reminder that my 914 needs more sorting... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

"good reminder that my 914 needs more sorting"

When I owned my first 914 way back in 1979, it ran great all the time (it was low miles and very dependable) and I never thought about anything other than driving it.

Now 914 ownership includes an endless list of stuff that needs attention. Driving is still great but "sorting" is a never ending project.

How did you find out?!? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

Seriously, thanks for all of the kind words and support, everyone! See ya down the road—and hopefully in a 914—but first, I am off to rest and recharge in places a car won't take me. This one's for you, Rick.
