Hello I have a 1974 2.0 motor and the previous owner must not have the proper tool and took a more brutal approach to remove, its disfigured and leaks. I have a 1973 1.8 but that cap won't fit. The Auto Atlanta site says the part is discontinued. I've seen tons of caps but with a hex bolt. Can someone point me to a source or let me know if the ones I'm seeing will fit? Thanks

My workshop manual states it is a 12x1.5
So would this work? Yellow Zinc https://www.belmetric.com/12mm-metric-drain...ofr7nng921plqc2 Or stainless https://www.belmetric.com/12mm-metric-drain...ofr7nng921plqc2 |

All Type IV have the same plug. If the one from 1.8 doesn't fit the 2.0 the someone changed the threads there. Measure and then look for the right plug.
Chances are a bigger plug will be 14x1.5 |

Same type of drain plug as my Audi 3.0TDI ,a right PITA to undo, the internal hex gets stripped out rather easily, good to see you have a solution.

I'm not fond of the Allen head plugs ... the last time I did an oil change on my Vanagon, almost didn't get the Allen drain plug (bolt) out (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) ... so I bought a hex head drain plug (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
