I have been working with some of our proven vendors pursing a 2056 or larger motor build. I have some great parts in my current motor a 2056 with big valve heads but the stock cam and tired bottom half leaves much to be desired. After taking on a number of winter improvements I find myself somewhat cash limited for this improvement.
So i am looking at spending $4k on updating the bottoms half of my engine. I would like to go to a 78mm crank making the build a 2.3 and stick with my Micro squirt and big valve heads. But before I go this build route I thought I would ask if there were any proven recent build engine options out there in my price range. Would love a 6 but the conversion would push it out of my range. Anyone have options before I go the 2.3 build? |

Maybe you should post this on the form and see if any of our members have an idea.

I'll have a fresh 2.3 coming out of my autocross car next week. Only a couple dozen runs on it. I'll pull it and do a compression check with full detail on parts for you if you are interested. I'll be selling the long block. I'm pulling it to swap in a 2.7 -6.
Very fast and solid build. Won first in class at Porsche Parade in Spokane. Let me know if you are interested and we can talk. |

OK, I'll have it detailed by the shop next week and send it to you. I'll also send you a video of some runs. I'll be working doubles through the new year so I'll be out of communication for this week, mostly. I'll be back to normal on Tuesday.

Having just had a big 4 installed in mine (2270), the easiest way to go on your build is buying it through the Type IV store (www.type4store.com). Fair warning though, they are pricey, but when you start getting into the high end stuff, it always is. But yeah, this is an incredible build spec off the shelf. The price shown now includes Nickies and JE pistons. Pretty much everything you need for your build is right there for you in this kit.
Oh, BTW, this thing will SCREAM when you are done w/ it, especially if you add a few tweaks like Tangerine Headers and Mallory Dizzy. |

Definitely working wiith Charles and Natalie at the Type 4 Store and would love nothing more than to have a set of Nickies in my car. They are working on getting a custome package together for me. Really think they provide a complete and proven solution. But dont look at the packages they offer and assume they are out of reach. Charles will work with you to get you what you need. I certainly have no reservations about spending money on my car. I would love to hit the Type 4 Store with an open check book. But I am limited by time and ability to build the engine. There seems to be a few options out there and it will take some work to pick the best one. |

In fact, I MAY have been one of the first people to get the set up they have listed on their site (I know that I got the newest generation and it wasn't listed at the time, and had to wait for it). And yes, having an open check book while shopping at the Type 4 store can be really hazardous to your bank account!! LOL |

Another option if looking to buy an engine from a builder is Fat Performance. I have one of their 2258 engines. They too work with you to build a custom engine based on needs/wants/funds.

FAT also makes fantastic engines. A good friend of mine has them build his Baja race engines.

Besides, Old River Road may be fun to drive w/ it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |
