I have a 73 2.0 that I put away about 25 years ago after driving it for a while. I need to poke around to see what it needs and decide what level of restoration. Are there any restoration or Porsche 914 books that are recommended?

I would like to do as much of the work as possible. Have a lift and tools.

I know have some rust on the doors but likely also on the longs. May rebuild the engine.

May rebuild the engine.

I'm putting the Wilson book to good use right now for the engine rebuild: https://www.amazon.com/Tom-Wilson-Rebuild-A...s/dp/B00HTJO8JE

But also get the Raby video. Good to have multiple references.

While we poke fun at Haynes sometimes, it's an absolute must have. Not much about body restoration, but great for mechanical basics.

PDF of the factory manuals. (Search around here for links to it.)
Brett Johnson's 914 Restorer's Guide.
George from AA's 700 Tips book.
Youtube.

This site has a how to or documented on just about any job you will encounter...with free technical support. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
For /6 engine Pelicanparts engine forum.

For a repair manual the Haynes for 914 is actually quite good.
I also have the factory (CD and a copy printed out, 3 binders) manual plus the Drake and Cylimer.

Download the Factory manuals as by far they are the best. For 1st time engine rebuilders the Raby video's are a must.

Good wiring diagrams are also advisable, plus info on the FI or carb setup you've got. I find the factory exploded parts diagrams really useful in figuring-out how things go back together.

Here's most of my service-oriented stuff (performance/racing and history stuff books are elsewhere)

YES!!!!!

Not a 914 book. A life changing book if you GET it. Clearly you didn't google it.

Where can I find the manuals to download?
Google takes me to a couple of sites but the shop manual files are missing.

If you can find something called the "PET CD" (the files off the old CD disc) that is also really cool as it's a searchable parts catalog with diagrams

Chris, the PET is now available as a PDF. It used to be freely available on the Porsche Classic website, but I don't see it there in a quick look through.

I'm pretty sure a lot of people have copies of it, though.

Yep, thanks for reminding - I probably have that PDF too.

Here's a direct link to Porsche Classic's 914 site:
