My car (carbs) came with a Facet fuel pump and it’s really loud. It’s fits where I put it and it’s economical. Are they all that loud?

I had one in an airplane and I could hear it whenever I flipped it on. Luckily it was only used during takeoff & landing. Otherwise I would have replaced it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

This is a much higher quality and quieter pump:

Pierburg Low Pressure Fuel Pump

What is the fuel pressure set at? Is the gauge accurate? They make a terrible racket mounted directly to metal.

I have ran a Facet for several years on a couple different sporting machines without a problem, but just ordered a Pierburg. I will keep a facet for a backup.

It's great for solving fuel problems. You can always tell it is working and move on to something else.

Except when it sounds like it is running but the inlet is clogged.....

A facet pump, a battery, jumper cables, some hose lengths and a few catch cans make short work of emptying a fuel tank.

Whoever designed the Facet pump should be brought up on charges. It was the first thing I changed out when I got my carbureted 914. Absolutely get a rotary pump.

It's True with the Facet you know it's working when you hear it
Had my 914 stall down the block right away I did not hear the pump so switched the relay from the heater fan and the Facet started buzzing and I was on my way !

Question to the group I have dual Weber's If I get a Pierburg can I get by without the regulator?

Zims states a FP regulator is required for that pump if used with carbs. 5.5 lbs pressure. With an adj regulator you would need a GOOD, ACCURATE gauge. Lots more money. With a quality reg and gauge you can stay with the facet and live with the racket. I think the LP CB or Carter pumps do not require a regulator.

In the 356 section on Zims site, there is a 12v pump for carbs that doesn't require a regulator.

But the Pierburg is a better pump.
