Felix,

A reputable dealer is a good way to go. I do CC transactions to avoid money transfer fees. It also locks down the current exchange rate, as they can change by the time money is deposited in their bank. There are escrow services, but I've never used them. If parts are new, then you'll pay VAT and at customs. If the parts are used, it is possible to avoid customs fees altogether (such as "salvaged parts"). For freight forwarders, I use Action Global, though a company that has a local office near the company you're buying from can save a great deal of headaches. I've never made an overseas transaction with a private individual. FWIW. Which country?

Felix if your looking for audi specific euro parts check out europrice http://www.euro-audi-parts.com/. They carry most of the RS parts only aviable in germany and have a fairly good reputation in the audi community.

I'm interested in a transaxle in Malta for my V8. The seller is posting through a race car and parts website. I'm just concerned about sending funds and never seeing them and the parts again.

Same problem here buing parts from US. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

I think you should ask the seller do an E-Bay page with the buy-it-now price you have agreed. Then you buy it "through" the E-Bay. I have done it, but I am not sure how much it really helps if you get some serious problems. I have never have any big problems..... I have been cheated only by my ex-friend selling me junk 915 box in pieces (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/headbang.gif)

Good luck ! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wavey.gif)

Personally, I wouldn't send any money to Malta. Is the part that hard to find in the US?

found another in UK but same concerns...

The seller is very responsive and communication is done through the US owned web-site. My major concern is loss or theft during transport.

Thats no problem. I have send some parts here from Europe to US using normal post. No problems. You can ask the seller use UPS or some other company if you don´t trust the normal post.

My major consern is allways that the seller keeps the money and post me package full of junk thinking that I am too lazy to send it back or it is too expencive to send it back. But, luckily no problems so far (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif)

An R30 Renault that is more common in Europe. I found one for $1k USD and another for $1.5. Shipping seems to be around $500. Already set up for V8 and are used in Ford GT40 and other mid-engine V8 replicas.

Heh.... I thought so. Good choice !! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif)

But, the price is too much. Just saw one in England, £216. That is about 400 USD.

Link

I just bought one from Germany. The price was about the same. Shipping to Finland from Germany was 150 euros (=190 USD). The total price for me was under 600 USD. I have not yet got it, but hope to get it in the next week. Then I can send more info about it. I will try to put it together with my six, but thats an other story.....

I got an other offer too from England. I will PM it to you.

Good luck !!

Wow, that's much more affordable and that had eBay feedback!

The one's I've seen are on race-car.com and another on the GT40 classifieds. Private sellers with no history... The one in Malta claims his is virtually new and includes the shifter.

I still need to get the Chevy bellhousing which is another $300 USD + shipping.

Let me know if you see another. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)
