On page 101 of the Brian Long book about 914's is the only one I have seen that is not in race trim. There have been several picutres over the years in Excellece of different ones. Does anybody have a full size copy of that picture on page 101? I might be interested in replicating the stripe job. Thanks, Mark.

The M471 package was basically the flares and wider rims. There are details in other threads. At least one 914Club member has one. I have not seen that picture elsewhere. The stripe should be easy to duplicate. Just a flat black stripe the width of the headlight cover along the edge of the hood, plus the headlight covers and blinds.

I don't know of a brochure for the M471.

this one is a '70 factory -6, which got the M471 package in 1971 by a Porsche garage (documented)

There used to be one here in Kansas City that looked exactly like that. I'm not sure of the owners name anymore (was a looong time ago). If I remember correctly, Brad worked on the car, or knew of it or something or other.

Well did you buy it from Doug Mcalister the dog doctor? If so, that is the one that was in Kansas City. Doug is a good friend. I wondered where the car ended up.

Hey that is quite a stack of SSI exchangers in the backround.

John, I guess he sold that car?? I saw it once at an autocross out at the old JC Penny warehouse. He didn't run it as far as I remember. But I do remember drooling on it.

The last time I talked to Doug (back when his car was for sale) he had a serious buyer from Florida. I never called him back to find out exactly where it ended up.

Doug M. Sold his M471 car several years back. Maybe 5-6 years ago. I saw it a few times but wasn't too impressed with it. It paled in comparison to the performance of our track car, but I guess if you must have a serial number for some reason......

Me, I prefer to have fun with the cars in the way they were meant to be enjoyed. They are cars afterall.

just to clarify, the car in the pic that "ein 6er" posted does *NOT* belong to a "doug" ...

the car in the picture is a norcal car that has been in storage for 20+ years!

Well alrighty then.

Even dirty it looks nicer than the one that was here in KC several years ago. (The paint looks more shiny than what I remember).

This is the car (the silver car on top) that was Doug's from Shawnee, Kansas that was sold at least 6 years ago to possibly someone in Florida.
