Winged Warrior Event Information

Here's one for those of us stuck in the middle. Not only will there be an autocross course, but also a slalom, 200ft skidpad, 100-0 braking, and 1/4 mile dragstrip. Cars will first be split "domestics" versus "imports" and then further classed according to performance. Details and registration are available at the link above.

All proceeds will benefit Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis. The actual event is at Darlington Field, an airport located in Anderson, IN (about 20 minutes north of Indy on I-69).

I've signed up - hopefully I'm not the only teener to apply!

Yeah it does! Let's show all those Evo and Viper drivers that it doesn't take 500+hp and all wheel drive to be able to maneuver through some cones (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif)

100-0 braking

Hmmm, tell me how this works.

One of the runways at the airport is almost one mile long. A Marshall with a GPS is riding along with you to verify speed, and there is a defined braking zone, so everyone theoretically stomps the brakes at the same point. Measurements are then taken.

Is it going to be measured to p<.00001 ? No, but since the point of the event is to have fun and raise money for Riley Children's Hospital, everyone seems OK with it. Although there was mention of someone bringing a telemetry rig similar to what Road & Track uses for their performance challenges...

BTW-I forgot to mention before, but registration is _free_ so this is right up the alley of all us CSOBs (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)
