think ive decided on getting the largest size typeIV i can to build for the car, am also planning on a pertronix? billet alum distributor with ignitor II , and am looking at a set of brosol/solex carbs in either 40s or 44s , cept the carbs i found say they are for a type 1 dual port , but they come with all the hardware manifolds etc for what id say was a reasonable price of bout $430 for the 40s and $499 for the 44s.this is for brand new, not remanufactured.
would these work? |

Go for it bro. If you can, get your kit from Raby, he has a 20% off on two engine kits; the 2056 & 2270. The sale is ending Feb. 13 on wednesday this coming week!!! He's got a 2270 stroker kit which will make some good HPs for the same price as the standard 2270 which is for about 150HPs. If your ready to get a rebuild kit, September is the time to do it!!

directly replaces a 009 does it? And how good are 009's? Do they pass the float test? Are you building a water pump or a car here?

I am not sure exactly what this means ^^ but if you can afford it you don't want to cheap out on your dizzy or your carbs for that matter. I could suggest brand names but I think you should check out the search funtion and read what has been proven to be funtional, durable and performance inhancing. |

well jake in his show said that pertronix was better than the bosch 009 and its cnc machined to pretty tight tolerances with a +0.00 to -0.003 . almost as good as the MSD one and at bout 200 bucks i wouldnt call it exactly cheap ( dist)
carbs now, im still looking into those more and ill also look a bit more into distributors but so far these seemed to be good as far as quality/pricing links carbs http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Product...0005279/c-10110 dist http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Product...0004547/c-10110 |

Cheap is relative. In the classifieds here there is a used set of 40 IDF's with manifolds, linkage and air filters for.... I think it was $375.00. Rebuild kits are inexpensive. |

The 009 was developed for Porsche 912/616 race engines.
BTW- My special is only for Radio Show listeners. If I believe that a purchaser has not listened to the show they will be given a test about radio show content before the order will be initiated. |
