I wonder how big of an air tank would be needed to power a car for the average commute, and at what pressure the air is stored. Hmmm ... AirPorsche ... This looks like a very interesting idea.

Compressed air was used to run locomotives in mines in the 1800's. They consisted of a large tank rather than a boiler, and cylinders and side rods like a steam powered locomotive. No combustion gases in the tunnels!

If you wrecked and the air tank popped, it would rip your car in twain. More dangerous then a ruptured gas tank. That would at least take a few seconds or even a minute to enfuld the car. This would be instantanious.

Not quite as bad as the hydrogen tank ruptures that they tested in the 70s when hydrogen powered engines started maing the news, as you would not have the fireball. but the air would be highly more compressed.
