I have a new 914 friend locally and he has BMW 320i vented front brakes on his 914. From what I can gatter, all they are are standard 320 brakes but with a spacer or shim for thicker rotors. Has anyone installed or modified their BMW brakes for vented rotors because that would be cool?

JP,
I don't think you can use the standard 320i caliper (78'-83' model) for vented discs. BMW 320i's did come with vented rotors in 1977 only if I recall correctly.
The question is...what rotor is he using on the front end of his 914? You either need the 911 front end or the custom aluminum hubs that Mike Mueller was making to fit a 4 cyl front end that utilize the 911 vented rotor. Take some pics and show us I would like to see what you are talking about.

Ya thats the info I used to get mine but they are for stock nonvented rotors. I've seen a set from a new 914 contact, this dude has like 40 collector cars and about 6 of them are teeners, who has them with vented rotors. All I saw was a shim to make them wider and just wondered if anyone has seen them or modified the ones they had for that.

Okay, why bother right? I don't know, its an addiction! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drooley.gif)

Shure thing bro. I told him I'd get him a 914 club cap and wellllllll....I did but........

I need to visit him again if he is in the area. He wants to race so we have something else in common and need to gets rolling this summer. I will get all the info I can for us all since he knows his stuff and I will fill you in on the goods since it would be the trick at about $45 per calliper and Eric Scott Shea's Tee. I'd love to know more about his vented disc setup. Maybe you can direct him here and he can tell us?
