Trying to identify what Bilstein shock I have and information is not clear... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)
Lets start with the back ones as I think this will be easier (maybe). These are yellow and have the 5-6 grooves with the ring allowing to ajust the ride height. P/N is 720 0179 H003. Are these the Heavy Duty, the Sport, or something else? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) Looks like there is only one option for the rears in yellow with the grooves but they have a different number. Did Bilstein change their numbering scheme? For the front, I am using 911 3" wedge bolt Boge struts. For this I actually have a selection of 2 sets of Bilstein yellow inserts with part numbers: F4-P36-0113-H003 What to read for both of these two front ones, Regular, Heavy Duty, Sport, other? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) Help appreciated. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

well
i just pulled the two boxes down that my bilsteins came in . i am pretty sure these are the boxes for the front shocks. part # 34-001127 the other number on the box is P36-0112 we ordered these believing they were the softest of the bils. to replace original boges in the 1.8 i guess you would call them regular. but i think they refer to them as sport. not real sure. they are stiffer than boges thats for sure. also really all i could get in aus. i did not keep the boxes for the rear. so not sure. unless i crawl under car and see if i can read a part number off them. |

stuck my head under the back.
rears are 24-001793 and again pretty sure thats called a sport. also 914 specific. the front ones i listed above are pretty much refered to as 911/912 front struts and fit the 914. most ads describe them as B6 sports. |

Thank you Wonki. And I assume all of these are yellow? Yet none of these correlate with any of my numbers... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Bilstein lists P36-0112 front and P36-0113 sport front. Rear is B46-0179 for Porsche 914.

Thank you Wonki. And I assume all of these are yellow? Yet none of these correlate with any of my numbers... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) front ones are green rear ones are yellow. mike who did just about all the serious recommission work knew what he was doing, so its all set up correctly front to rear. its not mixed and matched. they are all whats termed sport. i just rang mike to check. yes these are the "softest" of bils. but you know bills are not soft really to begin with. got to say it handles fantastic and i'm running super skinny mich XAS 165s (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) mine does have front and rear sway bars. the XAS take some of the stiffness out of the shocks in terms of ride quality. i think you might have some other gear. heavy duty? not sure what they term them all. google bilstein followed by the part numbers and see what advertisements get thrown up. you should be able to determine what they are from that. |

i googled F4-P36-0223-H003 and i am getting a hit on a pelican forum.
seems to say its an old parts number. accords with B8 performance. so i would say that is a super stiff shock. maybe almost a track shock. i haven't gone into the website just looking at google summary on search page. i'd have to look further googling. not getting a match on the other part number you list for front. can't seem to get anything on the rear part number yet. must be old part numbers maybe - or more obscure. |

Along with the Bilsteins, I am running 19 mm torsion bars up front with a 19 mm front sway bar. I have 140 lb. springs in the rear, no sway bar.. Handles like it's on rails.

So, in recap from the provided information, looks like my two front sets are:
F4-P36-0113-H003: -> Sport 052 112 H001: -> B8 From Google: Our BILSTEIN B8 shock absorber is specially designed for use with lowering springs. It not only has a correspondingly sporty characteristic curve, but is also shortened in length. This gives it outstanding road performance. No clue as to what the rears are as of now. I did send a mesage to Bilstein, hopefully I will get a reply. @Geezer914 : which Bilstein do you have in the front? |

Bilstein replied me back with this information:
Rear: Only one shock has been available for the 914. It is a B6 Performance variant. 720 0179 H003 = F4-B46-0179-H0 = 24-001793 Here is the current product info for it: https://cart.bilsteinus.com/shock-24-001793...p;SubModel=Base Front inserts for 911 3" strut (and maybe others (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) ) 050 112 H001 = F4-P36-0112-H0 = 34-001127 --> B6 Performance Here is the current product info for it: https://cart.bilsteinus.com/insert-34-00112...p;SubModel=Base And the other inserts I have: F4-P36-0113-H003 = F4-P36-0113-H0 = 34-001134 --> B8 Performance Plus Here is the current product info for it: https://cart.bilsteinus.com/insert-34-00113...p;SubModel=Base Based on what was shared here, I will be keeping the B6 front and rear and selling the B8 fronts. |

I have the Bilstein Sports in my car along with 140# rear springs, stock. (later) sway bars F&R, stock torsion bars, Elephant Racing rubber bushings all around, deep six rims and 195x65x15 tires. I think my car rides and handles nice. Having said that, I would not have been upset if the Bilsteins were a tiny bit softer.
I previously had 195x60x15 tires and went to the 65 sidewall purposely to give a little more cushion; that made a difference in ride. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) |
