Hijack: What about filling the filter with oil when simply changing the oil?

Same problem. Your pump gears are wet but the pump is still empty. Air pushing oil.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) I never fill a filter. Disabling the ignition and cranking for oil pressure is a good idea. If you've got FI, disable that as well.

I called the kinda local Brad Penn distributor. He doesn't even carry the 20w50. He works basically on Porsche's. He likes the 15w40 better & recommended that over the 20w50. It seems like everyone here recommends the 20w50 though. So what should I use after the initial break inn? 20w50 or the 15w40 (Brad Penn of course)?

This is for a basic stock rebuild. Nothing to juiced up (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

was his question tho... the "after break-in"

I like 20-50 personally. dunno if 20 50 is actually better, but I've always gotten it for aircooled engines, regardless of brand.

Come on, I can't be expected to read EVERY word you post. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif)

I use 20/50, but I'm just following Charles N's example (LNEngineering).

That seems to be what I hear used the most. I figured to go with the 20w50 after the break in. Just the guy I talked to doesn't carry the 20w50. There is another guy in Portland I'll try on monday. I know I can get the 30wt break in from the first guy. Hopefully the other guy will carry both. Either way I'll get both coming my way on monday.

As always thanks for all the guidance Gents (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pray.gif)
